Fluoro rubber refers to the synthetic polymer elastomer containing fluorine atoms on the carbon atoms of the main chain or side chain. The introduction of fluorine atoms endows rubber with excellent heat resistance, oxidation resistance, oil resistance, corrosion resistance and atmospheric aging resistance. It has been widely used in aerospace, aviation, automobile, petroleum, household appliances and other fields, and is an irreplaceable key material in the cutting-edge national defense industry. Since 1943, polyolefin fluororubber, nitroso fluororubber, tetrapropylene fluororubber, phosphoronitrile fluororubber and perfluoroether rubber have been developed successively.

Good stability

Fluoroelastomer has high chemical stability and is one of the best media resistant elastomers at present. Type 26 fluororubber is resistant to petroleum based oils, diester oils, silicone ether oils, silicic acid oils, inorganic acids, most organic and inorganic solvents, medicines, etc., only low molecular ketones, ethers, esters, amine, ammonia, hydrofluoric acid, chlorosulfonic acid, phosphoric acid hydraulic oils. The medium performance of 23 type fluorine adhesive is similar to that of 26 type, and it has more unique features. Its resistance to strong oxidizing inorganic acids such as fuming nitric acid and concentrated sulfuric acid is better than that of 26 type fluorine adhesive. Its volume expansion is only 13%~15% after immersion in 98% HNO3 at room temperature for 27 days.

High temperature resistance

Fluoroelastomer has the same high temperature resistance as silicone rubber, which can be said to be the best elastomer at present.

Aging resistance

Fluoroelastomer has excellent weather aging resistance and ozone resistance.

Vacuum performance

Type 26 fluororubber has excellent vacuum performance. The vacuum outgassing rate of the vulcanizate of 246 fluororubber basic formula is only 37 × 10-6 torr l/sec. cm2. Type 246 fluororubber has been successfully applied under the vacuum condition of 10-9 Torr.

Mechanical properties

Fluoroelastomer has excellent physical and mechanical properties.

Electrical performance

Type 23 fluororubber has better electrical properties and lower moisture absorption than other elastomers, so it can be used as a better electrical insulating material. Type 26 rubber can be used under low frequency and low pressure.

Low permeability

Fluorine rubber has a relatively large gas solubility, but its diffusion speed is relatively small, so its overall permeability is also small.

Low temperature performance

The low temperature performance of fluororubber is poor, which is due to its own chemical structure, such as the Tg of 23-11 type>0 ℃.

Radiation resistance

The radiation resistance of fluororubber is one of the worse elastomers. Type 26 rubber shows cross-linking effect after radiation, and type 23 fluororubber shows cracking effect. The radiation of 246 fluororubber in air at room temperature is 5 × The performance changes dramatically at a dose of 107 C/kg at 1 × The hardness increases by 1~3 degrees, the strength decreases by less than 20%, and the elongation decreases by 30%~50% under the condition of 107 ℃. Therefore, it is generally believed that 246 fluororubber can resist 1 × 107 C/kg, limit is 5 × 107 C/kg.
